My story
Hi, I’m Amani. I’m 13.
A couple of years ago, I was stuck on screens all the time. Fortnite, YouTube, Roblox. I was always inside, zoned out.
My mom and I argued a lot. One day she told me, “I miss hanging out with you.”
That moment changed everything.
I went outside, grabbed a ball, and we just played. No lectures, no pressure, just fun. And something clicked. We laughed. We talked. I felt like myself again.
But this story actually started even earlier.
I grew up in Ethiopia where I played soccer every day with my friends. The problem was, our balls never lasted. The rough ground or barbed wire would ruin them by the end of the day.
When I was eight, I spent time at a soccer academy in India. I met kids from all over the world. Even though we didn’t speak the same language, we connected through soccer. That’s when I realized that soccer could bring people together, no matter where they’re from.
At age nine, I hand-stitched my first ball from old tent fabric.
At ten, I launched AmaniBall to help build stronger communities through play.
Today, AmaniBall is more than just a tough soccer ball. It's a way for moms and sons to feel close again.
